Honey Lacuna, the vice mayor of Manila City tested positive for COVID-19
HONEY LACUNA – The vice mayor of Manila tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This was announced by the Manila Public Information Office (PIO).
“Nais ko pong ipabatid na ako po ay nagpositibo sa COVID-19 ngayong hapon, Agosto 8, 2021,” it noted.
COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.
Among the safety protocols that everyone must observe are the following; social/physical distancing, using disinfectant from time to time if possible, and wearing masks as well as face shields especially in public places.
According to vice mayor Honey Lacuna, she did not expect to acquire the virus despite her extreme caution.

In the last part of the announcement, the vice mayor of Manila City asked for prayers and reminded the public to be careful and follow the established safety protocols.
Honey Lacuna is one of the many public officials who contracted the dreaded disease.
Among those who previously tested positive for COVID-19 is Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez. Fortunately, he was able to recover.
Meanwhile, in order to lessen the effect of COVID-19, vaccinations were rolled out across the country including the city of Manila.
Among those who were on the priority list of the COVID-19 vaccination program are medical frontliners, persons with comorbidities, and senior citizens.
Pfizer, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V are some of the vaccines available in the country.
As of today, more than 10 million people have already been vaccinated based on the data retrieved by “Our World in Data.”
