RICHARD GOMEZ – The actor-turned-politician confirmed on Saturday, July 17 that he has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

In a statement, he cited that he might have acquired the virus due to his work as the mayor of Ormoc City.

He said: “I tested positive for Covid. It could be my exposure from multiple people because of work I do as mayor. But I will be ok.”

According to Richard Gomez, his symptoms are “mild and manageable.”

He added: “I will need a lot of rest and will have to be in isolation until I’m better…I will go back to work as soon as doctors will give the clearance. I ask everyone to continue to be vigilant and safe.”

Meanwhile, with the rapid increase of coronavirus disease 2019 cases, leaders of different nations are doing their all in order to combat the spread of the deadly virus which started in Wuhan, China in 2019.

COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.

Among the safety protocols that everyone must observe are the following; social/physical distancing, wearing masks especially in public places, and using disinfectant from time to time if possible.
