In a statement, Moreno’s camp said that Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso decided to put off the Aksyon Demokratiko oath taking which was scheduled Thursday afternoon as the chaos in some NCR COVID-19 vaccination centers required utmost collective attention.

Moreno’s camp’s statement came after large crowds trooped to vaccination centers in Metro Manila on Thursday, a day before the two-week ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) was imposed in the region.

Pursuant to the mall management’s request, authorities had to cancel the administration of vaccines at a mall for the day.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Benhur Abalos said in an event in Mandaluyong City later in the day that he was informed that the crowds were because of the “fake news” that unvaccinated people will not receive cash assistance from the national government under ECQ.

GMA News Online reported that Moreno was supposed to take his oath before Atty. Robbie Pierre Roco, the son of party founder, the late Senator Raul Roco. Aksyon Demokratiko was also the party of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.

Earlier, Moreno had resigned as vice chairman for political affairs and member of the National Unity Party (NUP) ahead of filing candidacies for the 2022 elections.

Moreno said in a letter to NUP secretary-general Narcisco Bravo Jr. dated August 4 that he’s tendering his resignation from the party, thanking the party for the “chance to serve it the best way possible”.

Moreno was a part of the National Unity Party for about 6 years. The National Unity Party had carried him in his bid for mayor of Manila against former President Joseph Estrada.
