Aboard his hoverboard which was made in collaboration with an Australian firm, Kyxz Mendiola traveled a distance of 2,894 meters, erasing the previous record of only 2,352.

Aside from the hoverboard, Mendiola has also built a flying car.

But Mendiola was not an inventor or an engineer, in fact, he was a dancer and once a member of the Philippine All-Stars.

According to Mendiola, from being a dancer he got into filmmaking and from there he became interested in drones.

Now, Mendiola plans to mass-produce the hoverboard and flying car with the help of the technology firm he is partnering with.

“Andun na sa point na people think I was crazy,” he said in an interview.
