In a statement, Galvez said that they already identified the lot numbers of the COVID-19 vaccines and a combined follow up operation was being conducted by a composite team of the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the intelligence unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to apprehend the offenders.

Galvez also said that they’ll ensure that a thorough investigation on the matter was conducted and those involved will be penalized under Republic Act No. 11525 (COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021).

We already identified the lot numbers of the vaccines, and a combined follow up operation is now being conducted by a composite team of the Food and Drug Administration, NBI, AFP intelligence unit, and Philippine National Police to apprehend the offenders. We will ensure that a thorough investigation on the matter is conducted, and those involved will be penalized under RA 11525, or the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021,” Galvez said.

Based on earlier reports, the National Bureau of Investigation apprehended three individuals — a medical technologist, a nurse, and a Filipino-Chinese — for allegedly selling 300 Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses.

According to the National Bureau of Investigation, the usual buyers of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines were Chinese nationals.

COVID-19 vaccines being used in the Philippines were only approved for emergency use (EUA) and can’t be sold commercially.
