On Wednesday, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Eric Domingo said that initial studies showed an increased immunity against COVID-19 when mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccines.

During the Cabinet briefing aired early Wednesday, President Rodrigo Duterte asked Domingo if there’s risk of toxicity in mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccines.

According to Domingo, preliminary studies were looking into protection of mixing and matching of COVID-19 vaccines.

Preliminary studies in other countries are very encouraging mukhang tumataas yung effect, immunity saka ng reaction ng pasyente,” Domingo said.

Domingo also cited that studies were looking into Sinopharm or Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines matching with doses of mRNA vaccines such as Pfizer and Moderna.

Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) to the Department of Health (DOH) for possible donations of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines from the United States.

Also, Domingo revealed that the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization to the Department of Health for the donated AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from Japan.

Previously, the embassy of Japan said that it would send one million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
