Hidilyn Diaz received cash incentives from MVP Sports Foundation.
Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz had already received the cash incentive promised to her by the MVP Sports Foundation (MVPSF).
A total of PHP 10 million was already deposited to Hidilyn Diaz’s personal account a day after she arrived in the Philippines from Tokyo.
MVP Sports Foundation wasted no time in making Diaz enjoy the fruits of her labor. After all, she had been away from home for one-and-a-half years as she lived and trained in Malaysia to prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Games.
“Thank you so much, Sir MVP (Manny V. Pangilinan), Sir Al (S. Panlilio), and Sir VPV (Victorico P. Vargas). Thank you for your support with Team HD. Thank you also for the trust and confidence,” Diaz said during an hour-long Zoom call with MVP Sports Foundation officials.
Since 2011, MVP Sports Foundation had been supporting national athletes through the National Sports Association, with regard to personal allowances, overseas training, and other expenses.

Diaz’s gold medal run in the -55kg category of the 2020 Olympics Weightlifting Tournament was the moment the whole country had been waiting for.
“We all cried when you lifted the 127 kilograms. We are very proud of you for winning our first Olympic Gold. You are now part of Philippine sports history. We’re hoping for more golds this Olympics. The rest of the Philippine team competing were really inspired by your performance,” MVP Sports Foundation President Al Panlilio.
MVP Sports Foundation Chairman Manny Pangilinan said that the foundation was planning to send Diaz’s family to Manila so that they could be with her, who was currently in mandatory quarantine in the Sofitel Hotel.
Diaz couldn’t help but be emotional upon hearing Pangilinan’s proposal, expressing her gratitude to MVP Sports Foundation for their unwavering support for her throughout the years.
