In an online briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that there should only be one type of COVID-19 vaccine per vaccination site.

Dapat sa isang vaccination site, isang type of vaccine lang ang ginagamit natin. Hindi pwede tayo na may dalawang types tayo na binibigay because that will lead us to these kinds of errors,” said Vergeire.

Vergeire’s statement came in light of reported incidents in the Davao Region wherein a different COVID-19 vaccine brand was used for a second dose.

Vergeire then reminded those in charge of COVID-19 vaccination rollouts in different localities nationwide that they should follow the guidelines and retain only one type of COVID-19 vaccine in a vaccination site in order to prevent further errors.

So that’s one thing that should serve as a lesson for everybody, let’s follow the guidelines, let’s just retain na isang type lang ng bakuna sa isang vaccination site so that we can prevent further errors,” Vergeire said.

Moreover, Vergeire said that the Department of Health had already coordinated with its regional office about the said incident for the conduct of a proper investigation into reported incidents.

In a previous briefing, Vergeire said that initial information showed that the healthcare worker who administered the shot merely made a mistake.
