Woman who protended to be a nurse, arrested for selling COVID-19 vaccines
A 35-year-old woman was arrested by the Pasay City Police on Wednesday afternoon after pretending to be a nurse selling vaccines against COVID-19.
The suspect identified as alias Mich was arrested in the entrapment operation at a restaurant in Pasay City with the help of the real nurse named Dayrelle Esteban, 35.
The modus of the suspect is to ask P50,000 as a downpayment on the purchase of more than 50 vaccines worth P110,000 or more than P2,000 per vaccine.
According to Esteban, Mich offered her vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and SinoVac.
The vaccine supplies allegedly came from a private hospital in Makati and a government hospital in Quezon City.
Recently, a guard from a security agency who had previously talked to the suspect messaged her.
According to him, Mich pretended to be an employee of a private hospital and sent the guard a copy of Esteban’s professional ID and other photographs as proof.
Mich used a copy of the ID in Esteban’s Facebook post last year.
Esteban pretended to be a staff of the company where the guard is working so that she could transact with the suspect.
Unfortunately, Mich did not give any vaccine, so the police suspected that she was just cheating.
Gelo, the live-in partner of the suspect was also arrested as a possible accomplice but insisted that he did not know what his partner is doing.
Mich said that she just tried to do it in order to find a way to make money.
She will be facing charges of estafa or swindling and identity theft under the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
