Badoy: PCOO Mandated To Cover All Duterte Activities

The PCOO was mandated to cover all Duterte activities, according to Badoy.

PCOO Undersecretary Lorraine Marie T. Badoy said that the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) was mandated to cover all President Rodrigo Duterte’s activities.

The PCOO was mandated to cover all Duterte activities, according to Badoy.

The PCOO had a simple explanation on allegations that the government resources were being used to cover the activities of the President.

On Sunday, Badoy said in a press statement that it was their job to cover all events the President of the Republic graced with his presence.

Badoy also emphasized the importance of covering all the President’s events, noting that the Presidential Communications Operations Office took pride in President Duterte being “the most visible president” in Philippine history.

She noted that broadcasting all President Duterte’s events contributed to his high approval and trust ratings.

It has also made him the most trusted public servant in his administration with unprecedented trust and approval ratings that can only be the envy of leaders all over the world. The Filipino people trust him because they know him. And they know him because the PCOO covers his every move, his every utterance so that we know who he is and what he stands for,” Badoy said.

Badoy’s statement came in reaction to Bayan Muna Party-list Representative Carlos Isagani Zarate’s remark that broadcasting President Duterte’s July 6 meeting with officials of the ruling party, PDP-Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan), was an “unabashed display of impunity using government time and resources for clearly partisan political activity”.

People’s Television Network (PTV) aired the PDP-Laban meeting last July 7, while other government-operated news outlets and social media accounts covered it as well.

Last Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that the “political personality” of President Duterte, also the PDP-Laban chairperson, couldn’t be separated from his official duties as the country’s chief executive.
