‘Ulap’ Singer Rob Deniel Reacts to Comparison with ‘Buwan’ Hitmaker JK Labajo

Rob is the singer behind the latest OPM single, Ulap which has earned more than 22 million views on YouTube via the SuperbLyrics channel.

While on his official YouTube channel, the song earned 9.3 million views and 1.3 million views via unofficial and official music videos respectively.

In an interview with Viva Records, Rob Deniel gave his reaction after being compared with JK Labajo.

JK Labajo rose to fame when he joined The Voice Kids Philippines. He, later on, ventured into acting at the same time continuing his career as an artist.

He’s behind the hit song Buwan which has earned more than 150 million views as of posting.

But according to Rob Deniel: “‘Ulap’ was made out of boredom in my room. I was pretty chill and had nothing in my head. I was just writing words that I wanted to say.”

The 17-year-old singer who started to sing when he was only 12-years-old noted: “Sobrang dami ng comparison kasi ganoon na rin nagwo-work ang industry ngayon.”

“Like, kapag may inilabas kang song, lagi silang mag-iisip na may kapareho ka na hindi naman maiiwasan. Ang gusto ko lang, magpakatotoo. It’s an honor naman na yung idols ko rin is ma-compare din ako pero gusto ko rin lumayo at gumawa ng sariling personality,” he added.

At press time, he is busy promoting his single “Ang Rosas” and he is set to release this coming June 18 his song, “Darling.”
