On June 7, MUPO announced the qualifications for those who will apply as candidates in the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant.

Women aged 18 to 28, Filipino citizens with a Philippine passport, not married or having children, and no height requirement can join.

The news reached Maria, who has been with Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo several times at the 69th Miss Universe pageant.

On June 9, she went to the image-sharing site, Instagram wherein she shared the news.

According to her, it was a great development for beauty pageants.

Miss Australia also called on other organizations to emulate this step of MUPO.

Maria added that although she is one of the smallest candidates in Miss Universe 2020 at least she made it into the Top 10.

Many commented positively and agreed with Maria in her post.
