Barangay officials allegedly involved in an illegal street boxing event in Gagalangin, Tondo will face charges before the Office of the Ombudsman filed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) according to Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya.
“Magpa-file din po kami sa Office of the Ombudsman ng mga kaso laban sa kapitan. Lumalabas po sa imbestigasyon namin na mayroong kinalaman din po ‘yung mga barangay officials sa nangyaring pa-boxing,” he said.
According to the DILG official, those who are directly involved in arranging the street boxing event may face stiffer charges.
So, ang kaso niyan mas mabigat kaysa doon sa tinolerate lang or naging pabaya,” he said.
Aside from administrative charges, the barangay officials are also facing criminal cases which could result in suspension or removal from their office.
