It can be read on his IG post the expenses for a 10-day shoot amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s the statement of Erik Matti:

“This is what producers spend for a 10-day shoot just on health and safety protocols. These tests are on top of what we usually spend in producing our movies before the pandemic. Most people think the difficulty of producing content only lies with the producers. We always hear people say, “If you can’t afford to make movies, then don’t make them.” Yes, if this continues, we will end up not making any movies anymore. People will just go to tv and advertising. Movies will die. Everything that this pandemic brought upon us has put its burden to the producers in making sure we continue making films. With the cinemas closed and with no assured income for our movies, where do we go? To some, they say, “well, it’s just the movies.”; the least of our concerns in these trying times. But to most of us, movies are our life. We can’t just let this die.”

Erik Matti is considered one of the most popular directors in the country.

He is the director of some of the renowned movies such as On the Job, Honor Thy Father, Seklusyon, BuyBust, Kuwaresma, Ekis, Mano Po 2, Gagamboy, Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles and to name a few.
