Ellen DeGeneres broke her silence on news that her talk show will end after its 19th season.
American comedian and television host Ellen DeGeneres had recently broken her silence on news that her talk show will end after its 19th season.
Taping the opening of the May 13 episode, she said that she’s announcing that her talk show’s 19th season was going to be her last season.
During her opening monologue, she shared that ending her talk show was a decision she meditated on for a while and also said that she knew that her show’s 19th season would be her final one.
She then reflected on the number “19”, jokingly tying her 19th season to the 19th amendment, which granted women the right to vote, and to potassium, which was number 19 on the periodic table.

But beyond coincidences, Ellen said that she had a feeling that it’s time for her to move on.
“You may wonder why I’ve decided to end after 19 seasons. The truth is, I always trust my instincts. My instinct told me it’s time. As a comedian, I’ve always understood the importance of…timing. In all seriousness, I truly have felt like next season was the right time to end this amazing chapter,” Ellen said.

Prior to Ellen’s statement, news leaked that her long-running talk show, which had been embroiled in controversy and toxic workplace accusations since last summer, will enter its final chapter.
The talk show’s 2020-21 season had struggled with falling ratings since the beginning of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
