Four-division world boxing champion Nonito Donaire gave his reaction in the upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr.
In an interview via Fight Hub TV. the Filipino boxing champ did not pick a favorite or possible winner in the said bout.
“A champion will always be a champion. Regardless if you don’t show it that day, they might show it the next. And he (Pacquiao) might show it with his opponent (Spence),” Donaire said.
“So you just can’t underestimate guys like that, like Manny. He still has the power, he still has the knowledge for it. But that’s the thing about boxing, you never know until it’s done,” Donaire added.
Meanwhile, the upcoming bout between Pacquiao and Spence will take place on August 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Manny Pacquiao is also known as PacMan.
He made history as the only eight-division world champion with twelve major world titles.
He was the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes.
He’s also the first boxer to win major world titles in four of the eight “glamour divisions”: flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight.
On the other hand, Errol Spence Jr. is currently a unified welterweight world champion, having held the IBF title since 2017 and the WBC title since 2019.
He represented the U.S. at the 2012 Olympics, where he reached the quarter-finals.
He is ranked as the world’s third-best active boxer, pound for pound, by BoxRec as of January 2021.
