The Department of Foreign Affairs recently issued the latest advisory to the public in the wake of concerns about the unauthorized passport appointment offers being made via online.

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs on Saturday said that all passport applications can be made only through the DFA and not through any person or company using social media accounts.

The DFA reiterates that it does not use Facebook or any other social media network to offer or confirm passport application appointments; nor it has authorized any company or individual to offer and accept passport appointment scheduling on the Department’s behalf,” the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

In addition, the Department of Foreign Affairs said that those who tapped the services of unauthorized private entry or person using social media accounts “run the risk of not getting an authentic appointment or issues with their passport application, aside from incurring additional expenses”.

Moreover, the public was advised to access the Department of Foreign Affairs’ official appointment system at www.passport.gov.ph/appointment.

For persons with disabilities, senior citizens, overseas Filipino workers, and other qualified individuals, passport appointment may be facilitated through the courtesy lane as they must send an e-mail to the e-mail address of the nearest Consular Office (CO) or to [email protected].

The Department of Foreign Affairs also encouraged the public to check government advisories on the implementation of community quarantine and for entry requirements before setting an appointment with a particular consular office.

Also, the Department of Foreign Affairs said that the public was strongly advised to ignore offers from those individuals or companies and to “use only the official passport appointment system maintained by the DFA”.
