From SK chairman to illegal drugs seller
ILLEGAL DRUGS – A chairman of the Sangguniang Kabataan in Cabatuan, Isabela was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Friday morning, March 26.
The detainee was identified as Joren Palomeno, 24, SK chairman of Barangay Centro.
According to Cabatuan Police, they allegedly caught the suspect selling a sachet containing only marijuana to the police who pretended to be a poseur-buyer in exchange for P500.
When the suspect was searched, the authorities allegedly found two sachets of marijuana and the cellphone he used in the transaction.

The suspect has been charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act or Republic Act 9165.
Under the law, anyone guilty of importation or sale of dangerous drugs, with the manufacture of illegal drugs, or with the operation of a drug den can be punished with life imprisonment to death and a fine ranging from ₱500,000 to ₱10,000,000.
Anyone guilty of importing or selling drug precursors, protecting other violators, or working as an employee in a drug den can be punished with 12 years and a day to 20 years of imprisonment and a fine ranging from ₱100,000 to ₱500,000.
The maximum penalty is given if the sale or delivery was done within 100 meters of a school, if a minor was directly involved in the process of handling dangerous drugs, or if the victim of the offense is a mentally incapacitated individual.
