Male Suspect Who Used Fake Firearm to Holdup Cop, Arrested During Surveillance Operation
A male suspect has been arrested by the police authorities after declaring hold-up using a fake firearm in Pateros.
On Monday (March 15, 2021), a 36-year-old man has been arrested for trying to hold-up a man who seems to be a policeman in Pateros. The suspect has been identified as Jose Ian Gonzales, a resident of Antipolo City.
Pateros police Col. Ramchirsen Haveria Jr. reported that the police victim is a member of the station intelligence branch that performs a surveillance operation and foot monitoring in Bgy. Sto. Rosario-Kanluran last week.
The group conducted a surveillance and monitoring operation in the area due to series of hold-up incidents. The suspect suddenly arrived in the area using a motorcycle and pointed towards a cop who pretended to be an ordinary citizen.
The culprit tried to escape after noticing that his victim was a policeman but he was cornered and eventually arrested by the police authorities.
The cops recovered a fake firearm and five sachets of suspected illegal drugs. Gonzales is now facing charges of robbery, use of imitation firearm and possession of illegal drugs.
