House Committee on Health Chairperson and Quezon Rep. Angelina Tan denied special treatment on getting a vaccine against COVID-19 at Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).
According to Tan, she was vaccinated not because she was a congressman or chairman of the Health Committee of the House or because she was a doctor.
“I primarily took it as a rightful allocation provided for my son who works as a surgeon at the VMMC,” she said.
Under VMMC’s immunization program, each qualified employee must submit a list of three family members who wish to be vaccinated.
Tan allegedly decided to get vaccinated to show the public that vaccination should not be feared, even CoronaVac, Sinovac Biotech’s vaccine which is not warmly accepted in the country because it is made in China.
“As far as I know, I did not violate any existing laws, legal guidelines or regulations whatsoever when I took the jab,” the lady solon added.
Tan released the statement after Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said. to investigate those who underwent the vaccination even if they are not medical frontliners.
Tan said she would participate in the ongoing investigation and called on the public to support the government’s vaccination program.
