The Associated Labor Unions (ALU) has reacted to the plans of some private companies to implement “no vaccination, no work”, forcing their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to ALU national executive vice president Gerard Seno, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) should ban it immediately.

ALU allegedly received information from their members who were told that those who will not be vaccinated will not be admitted to their company.

Those who do not participate will be declared “unfit to work.”

He also said that some employers will ask for a certification as proof that they have been vaccinated.

There is also a threat that the branch will transfer those who will not be vaccinated while others will be placed in floating status.

“The ALU is advocating for the vaccination of all workers and pushing for the prioritization of essential workers to be inoculated with safe and effective vaccines to safely reopen our economy but these arbitrary actions taken by abusive employers are audacious acts of direct discrimination and straightforward coercion,” Seno said.

It is said that vaccination should not be made compulsory.
