Converge ICT Solutions Inc was expected to start offering its services to the Visayas and Mindanao by the second half of 2021.
In a report on Gizguide, Converge Chief Operating Officer Jesus Romero said that Converge’s expansion to the Visayas and Mindanao regions had been progressing as planned.
According to Romero, by targeting to substantially complete their backbone by the first half of 2021, they hoped to commercially launch by the second half of 2021 so that they could reach more provinces in need of world-class fixed broadband services.
Meanwhile, Converge’s chief executive officer and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy said that the group’s goal was to connect unserved and underserved areas across the Philippines.

Converge’s expansion in the Visayas and Mindanao included 1,800-kilometer of submarine sea cables, linking over 20 landing stations throughout the Philippines.
According to Romero, the cable stations had already been substantially completed and they’re now awaiting the vessel that would execute the submarine cable-laying operations.
Romero also said that those submarine sea cables were the same fiber optic cables found on land-based stations but would be laid on the seabed to bridge the geographical challenges.
