Health Chief Duque Viral On Twitter For Aggressive Response VS COVID Surge

DUQUE VIRAL – Health Secretary Francisco Duque III trends on social media today because of his famous meter stick.

Recently, Metro Manila has seen a massive surge in COVID-19 cases. Unfortunately, despite the year-long lockdown, the Philippines broke all-time-high records in the number of daily cases this week with over 7,000 infections.

Because of this, former Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral called out the government’s COVID-19 response on social media. He stated that not only is the country back to square one, it took “tens step back from square one”.

As a response, Duque said it was unfair to the health workers who struggle and risk their lives every day. Meanwhile, to emphasize the need to enforce health protocols, Duque himself went out to the public to remind the people that COVID-19 is still prevalent.

However, despite having a meter stick at hand, Netizens noted how the health secretary doesn’t even use it to remind his posse to stay 1 meter apart.

“Duque is a clown. But the joke is on us. We have a health secretary fighting covid with a measuring stick”, one Netizen said. Meanwhile, here is a video of Duque and his team aggressively reminding the public to wear face masks and face shields.

Last December, Duque did the same thing during the holiday rush. He went to malls personally to enforce distancing protocols along with his trusty meter stick.
