This is in connection with the viral letter of the latter asking the court for a list of lawyers who are allegedly involved in reds.

In a statement, Eleazar said Police Lt. Fenando Calabria Jr., made a mistake by compromising the good relations between the police and the judiciary.

Calabria is the head of the CCP’s Intelligence Unit and signed the aforementioned letter which has gone viral on social media since Friday.

In a letter on March 12 addressed to the Clerk of Court Calbayog City Hall of Justice, Calabria asked for the names of lawyers representing those he described as the “Communist Terrorist Group”.

It even provided a paper where to put the names of the lawyers and their affiliation. It was mentioned that the letter is in compliance with the order from the “higher offices of the PNP.”

But Eleazar denied that there was such an order from the national police.

“As soon as we were informed of a letter… I immediately ordered a thorough investigation to determine all the circumstances that prompted Police Lieutenant Fernando G Calabria, Jr. to do so. And based on the initial result of the investigation, what Police Lieutenant Calabria did was part of his effort to come up with a comprehensive report on the communist insurgency situation in his area of responsibility, which is Calbayog City,” he said.

“The pressure of crafting a detailed report apparently took a toll on him and eventually prompted him to commit a serious breach of policy,” added the PNP OIC.
