Allan K on 2020: “Ano ba ‘tong taon na ‘to, parang isinumpa?”
Kapuso comedian/TV host/businessman Allan K recalled the challenges he faced in the year 2020.
Aside from facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic himself, Allan K faced many challenges at the time.
First, his two comedy bars closed – Klownz and Zirkoh.
Second, his youngest brother Jun Quilantang died in May, followed by his sister Melba Quilantang in July.
In August, Allan’s life was placed in danger after he was hit by COVID-19.
“Hindi ko talaga makalimutan, day 1 ng 2020, sabi ko, ‘This is the day, kaya i-claim niyong lahat, this is a good year kasi doble, bente, bente, dobleng bente. So, ano yun, double whammy yun kumbaga. Pero Enero pa lang, pumutok na yung Taal, nasundan ng kung anu-anong trahedya,” he said.
“Nagpandemya ng March. Nagsara tayo, Klownz and Zirkoh. Namatay yung brother ko nung May, nasundan ng kapatid ko nung isa pa nung July. Tapos August, na-COVID ako,” he added.
He stressed: “Ano ba ‘tong taon na ‘to, parang isinumpa?”
He said it was a good thing that he was brave enough and did not suffer from depression.
Allan K hopes that his comedy bars will return to operation when the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
