4-Year-Old Toddler Found 220-Million-Year-Old Dinosaur Footprint on Beach

A 4-year-old toddler found a dinosaur footprint, which is over 220 million years old on a beach at Bendricks Bay in Wales.

Last Friday (January 29, 2021), National Museum Wales said that a young girl identified as Lily Wilder discovered dinosaur footprints on a beach in Wales. The fossilized footprint is about 10 centimeters long.

Lily’s father Richard was surprised after seeing the fossil discovered by his daughter. Lily’s mom sally was also amazed on what they have seen. “Richard thought it was too good to be true. I was put in touch with experts who took it from there,” Sally said.

National Museum of Wales Palaeontology curator Cindy Howells said that the discovered footprint is the best specimen found in the area. The experts believed that the creature is about 75 centimeters tall and 2.5 meters long based on the footprint.

Howell said that they could not identify the dinosaur but the footprint shows a glimpse of the early evolution of dinosaurs. She believes that the dinosaurs exists around 230 million years ago and the footprint could help the scientists to discover more about the dinosaurs.

The Natural Resources Wales allowed the authorities to remove the specimen from the beach. The fossil will be turned over and displayed at the National Museum Cardiff.
