The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has again rescheduled the board examinations for those who want to become teachers.
On Wednesday, the PRC said that the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) will be held on September 26.
“Pursuant to Resolution No. 1256, (s.2020), wherein Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) is classified as a large-scale licensure examination that should not be administered during this pandemic, the Professional Regulation Commission informs the public that the March 28, 2021 LEPT has been rescheduled to September 26, 2021,” PRC said in a Facebook post.
This is the fourth postponement of the said test.
Its original date was March 2020, which moved to September 2020, then to March 2021 and most recently on September 26.
Meanwhile, according to a previous announcement of PRC, a total of 101 licensure examinations will be conducted this year.
This, after stringent lockdowns aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus disease forced the cancellations of many examinations in 2020.
At the Laging Handa briefing, PRC Chairperson Teofilo Pilando Jr. said that the Professional Regulation Commission held only 11 examinations last year as compared to 83 examinations in 2019.
The Philippine government’s COVID-19 response task force earlier allowed the conduct of licensure examinations scheduled for January to March 2021.
According to the Professional Regulation Commission, the professional examinations set to take place from January to March — including examinations for architects, veterinarians, medical technologists, teachers, social workers, physicians, and geologists, among others.
Pilando added that health protocols must be strictly observed during the examinations.
The Professional Regulation Commission had also coordinated with the Department of Health (DOH) and local government units with regard to the conduct of the examinations.
Pilando also said that the Professional Regulation Commission was eyeing to introduce computer-based licensure examinations later this year.
