Brother of Senator Richard Gordon Dies, Senators Express Condolences

Senator Richard Gordon confirmed that his brother, former Olongapo City Mayor Bong Gordon, died.

In the Philippine political arena, there are several prominent surnames – one of these family names is Gordon. Two (2) members of the family are known politicians in the country.

Sen. Richard Gordon is a known broadcaster and politician in the country. He is currently the chairman of the Philippine Red Cross aside from being a member of the House of Senate.

Prior to being a senator, Gordon has experiences in the local government. He has served as the Mayor of Olongapo City in 1980. His brother, James “Bong” Gordon Jr., has also served as the Mayor of the city.

Sadly, recently, Senator Richard Gordon gave an update about his brother, former Olongapo City Mayor Bong Gordon. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the lawmaker confirmed that his brother died.

The Senator did not mention the cause of the death of his brother. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who extended their sympathy and condolences to their family.

Based on the report, several senators including Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III extended their condolences to the Gordon family over the passing of the former Olongapo City mayor.

Aside from being the mayor of Olongapo City from 2004 to 2013, he has also served as the representative of the first district of Zambales from 1995 to 2004.

As of this writing, there are still no details as to the wake of the former public servant. More updates may be posted soon.
