In a report on GMA News Online, Senator Go said that he would accompany President Duterte during the said event. He also said that a “simple turnover” ceremony would be held on Sunday.

Darating na February 28. I think 5:00 p.m. po ay tatanggapin ni Pangulong Duterte. Matagal na natin itong inaantay. Ako, as a legislator, talagang kinukulit ko po. Naawa na ako kina Vaccine Czar Secretary [Carlito] Galvez, Jr. at [Health] Secretary [Francisco] Duque. Halos araw-araw ko silang nire-remind,” Senator Go said.

The confirmation came after Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian announced in a Facebook post that 600,000 Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses donated by China would arrive in the Philippines on February 28, 2021.

According to Huang Xilian, both teams had been “working round the clock” in order to make it happen.

Earlier, Roque said that President Duterte’s presence in the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines was a manifestation of the Philippines’ gratitude towards China for donating COVID-19 vaccines.
