PH Records Highest COVID Deaths In 5 Months – DOH

PH RECORDS HIGHEST COVID DEATHS – According to the Department of Health, the Philippines has had a record high number of COVID-19 related deaths in over 5 months.

As of Friday, February 19, 2021, the health department also recorded 1,901 more cases of the deadly coronavirus. Furthermore, this comes after the confirmation of “mutations of concern” detected in Central Visayas.

With the new cases, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the Philippines was raised to 557,058. However, today’s tally does not reflect the results from 4 laboratories that failed to report their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System.

Along with this, the DOH also reported 157 more deaths due to the coronavirus. This comes after the health department reclassified as deaths 120 people that were previously tagged as recovered.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, today marks the highest number of recorded deaths in a single day since September 14, 2020 where 259 deaths were reported.

With this, the number of fatalities due to COVID-19 in the Philippines rises to 11,829. Furthermore, active cases in the country are now at 32,440. This accounts for 5.8% of the total reported infections in the Philippines.
