In a tweet, the official news website of GMA-7 clarified that it did not produce a post stating the death of the Kapuso comedian.

“GMA News wishes to clarify that it did not produce a post saying that Michael V has died. Links of the post, which may be spreading on social media and messaging apps, makes unauthorized use of the logo of GMA News. We also ask people to refrain from sharing the post, which we have reported to social media platforms. We urge people to follow our official account @GMANews on social media channels for the latest news and updates,” it said in a statement attached to a hoax report on his alleged death.

This is not the first time that Michael V was victimized by a death hoax.

Last year, the official Twitter account of Inquirer.net shared a screenshot of a post showing the headline: “BREAKING NEWS: Aktor na si Michael V BITOY ay Pumanaw na kanina lamang Matapos Hindi Malampasan ang sakit na COVID-19.” At the top part of the post, the link that can be seen was “inquirerupdates.ml”

The news provider denounced this saying that it was manipulated and stressed that this kind of post did not come from them.

“WARNING: The INQUIRER.net did not produce this post. Please be wary of the content you share,” the caption of the post said.
