George Shultz, Former US Secretary Of State, Dead At 100

Former US Secretary of State George Shultz died at the age of 100.

Former United States Secretary of State George Shultz died on Saturday at the age of 100, according to the California-based Hoover Institution.

In a report on CNN, Shultz was best known for leading the State Department under US President Ronald Reagan.

Shultz also served as the secretary of the Department of Labor, secretary of the Department of Treasury, and director of the Office of Management and Budget during US President Richard Nixon’s administration.

As per the report, Shultz’s work in presidential administrations extended back to US President Dwight D. Eisenhower, when he worked as a senior staff economist on his Council of Economic Advisers during the 1950s.

In a statement, former US Secretary of State and Director of the Hoover Institution Condoleezza Rice said that Shultz was a great American statesman and also a true patriot in every sense of the word.

He will be remembered in history as a man who made the world a better place,” Rice said.

According to the statement, Shultz had been working “nearly every day until his passing” as a Thomas W. and Susan B. Ford Distinguished Fellow at the Hoover Institution.

Shultz died at his home in California. The cause of his death was not given as of this writing.
