Vivian Velez: “It is not up to me, kasi hindi naman ako ang magdedesisyon”
Vivian Velez, the current director-general of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), reiterated that Leo Martinez was not entitled to retirement pay from the agency.
Earlier, it was reported that Vivian Velez allegedly blocked the second tranche of Leo’s retirement pay in September 2020 which cost around P500,000.
Leo served as director-general of the FAP for nearly sixteen years. His last day at the agency was on October 31, 2019.
On November 5, 2019, Vivian Velez took oath after being appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as FAP director-general.
When asked about the retirement pay of Leo Martinez, she said: “Ako, I was hoping, you know, that my transition from his leadership was fine.”
“Meron pa ngang lumabas na mga issues, nagpa-interview siya with regards to his retirement pay, hindi ko daw binibigay,” she noted.
Vivian Velez added: “Sabi kong ganun, ‘It is not up to me, kasi hindi naman ako ang magdedesisyon.”
The Film Academy of the Philippines is under the Office of the President, and the oversight government agency operating it is the Department of Education (DepEd).
