Vicky Shows No Sign Of Weakening As It Heads Toward Norther-Central Palawan

VICKY SHOWS NO SIGN OF WEAKENING – Tropical Depression Vicky continued to maintain its power as it moves toward the northern-central areas of Palawan.

According to the Philippines’ weather bureau, the Vicky was spotted 220 km. east-southeast of Puerto Princesa City. As of 10:00 a.m. the weather disturbance was said to move westward at 20 kilometers per hour.

Furthermore, Vicky, the Philippines’ 22nd storm, currently brings with it winds of up to 45 kph near the center. Meanwhile, it also carries gusts of up to 55kph.

Additionally, the storm is also forecasted to travel west-northwest and would likely reach the Sulu Sea and make land fall near the northern or central portion of Palawan.

With this, storm signal number 1 has been raised in the following areas:

  •  Northern and central portions of Palawan (Araceli, Dumaran, Taytay, El Nido, San Vicente, Roxas, Puerto Princesa City, Aborlan, Narra, Quezon, Sofronio Espanola) 
  •  Calamian
  •  Cuyo
  •  Cagayancillo
  •  and Kalayaan Islands

Residents are expected to encounter winds ranging from 30-60 kph. Furthermore, at these levels, the winds may rip off roofs of nipa and cogon huts.
