This, as Galvez – who was also the chief implementer of the national government’s COVID-19 efforts – said that the COVID-19 vaccines being developed by Sinovac Biotech in China and Gamaleya Research Institute in Russia may even reach Philippine ground first before the COVID-19 vaccine of AstraZeneca.

During the weekly forum at Kapihan sa Manila Bay, Galvez said that it would give them only 60 to 90 days to prepare and ship the COVID-19 vaccine based on their initial negotiations if ever they would close a deal this December.

Galvez likewise pointed out that Sinovac had pledged to take care of their COVID-19 vaccine’s shipment and distribution.

COVID-19 vaccines from Sinovac in and Gamaleya in Russia were among the four brands which the government said that it would procure. The other two were the COVID-19 vaccines of AstraZeneca in United Kingdom and Pfizer in US.

Sinovac and Clover Biopharmaceuticals were the first ones to pass the evaluation of the Philippines’ vaccine experts panel as they’re seeking the approval of the Single Joint Research Ethics Board and the Food and Drug Administration as well.
