Online Predator Arrested for Asking Money and Threatening Young Girl w/ Her Controversial Video
An online predator has been arrested for blackmailing a 13-year-old girl with controversial video and photos.
A 22-year-old man identified as Kelvin Lobas has been arrested by the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group 4A in General Trias, Cavite for allegedly blackmailing a teenage girl if she would not give him cash.
Lobas reportedly courted the girl on social media amid the coronavirus related lockdown. The minor victim fell with the suspect’s sweet and flowery words. The guy asked for scandalous video of the girl.
PNP-4A Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit operations chief Police Captain Mariz Datiles said that Lobas started to blackmail the helpless girl in November 2020. The suspect asked money from the girl and threatened her to spread the video if she will not obey.
“Tinatakot po siya na ‘pag hindi siya maggawa ng bagong video aside sa naunang video, gagawa po siya ng masama laban sa pamilya niya at ikakalat niya rin po ‘yong dalawang videos na sinend niya sa family at saka sa mga kaibigan,” Datiles said.
The online predator is now facing charges of robbery-extortion, grave coercion, and child abuse. He also violated the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act.
The Philippine National Police also advised the parents to monitor their children’s activities online to avoid such incidents.
