Ilagan, Isabela Experiences Flooding Due to Heavy Rains Brought by Northeast Monsoon
The northeast monsoon brings heavy rains, which causes flooding in Ilagan, Isabela and three rivers in the area overflowed.
On Saturday (December 5, 2020), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that the northeast monsoon would continue to affect the weather conditions over some parts of the country.
The monsoon brought cloudy weather conditions and heavy rains over the Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Cagayan and Isabela. The weather bureau also warned the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods and landslides.
The northeast monsoon or locally known as “Amihan” brings heavy rains over the region of Isabela. The inclement weather condition causes flooding and affect some residents of Ilagan, Isabela.
The incessant rains causes three rivers in the area including Pinacanauan, Cagayan and Magat to overflow. It also causes flooding in the agricultural fields and Baculod Bridge is currently not passable because of flood.
A few weeks ago, Isabela has also experienced severe flooding due to the effects of Typhoon Ulysses. The severe flooding destroyed numerous houses and washed out the possessions of affected residents.
