A garbage collector with 13 children won a sari-sari store package worth P15,000 in the Christmas thanksgiving and gift-giving program organized by the local government of the municipality of Carmona in Cavite.

The winner identified as Carlito Mendoza, a 54-year-old resident of Barangay Maduya, who works as a garbage collector, received a sari-sari store package amounting to P15,000.

The grocery package was awarded to Mendoza on Wednesday, December 23 through Cavite 5th District Representative Dahlia Loyola and Carmona Mayor Roy Loyola.

On the other hand, 20 indigent residents received cash gifts from the municipal government amounting to P5,000 each.

The Christmas thanksgiving and gift-giving program seek to provide assistance to residents of Carmona who remained humble, honest, and strong despite many atrocities which include the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Manila Bulletin, the winners were chosen based on the data collected by the enumerators and were verified by the officials of the barangay.

During the virtual awarding ceremony which was broadcast live via social networking site, Facebook, winners of the “Bahay Mo, Gayak Pamasko Contest” and “Barangay Christmas Palamuti Contest” were also awarded.
