The PNP-HPG operatives allegedly “impounded” Ronnie’s car because it covered his plate number with the words “PHIL MEDIA” written on it, which is said to be a traffic violation.

On the social networking site, Facebook, he explained the reason why there is a special plate number.

“As far as I am concerned and as far as I remember, I was given a permission na gumamit ng media plate. Alam po ninyo, ilang years ko na siyang ginagamit and wala pong sumita sa akin about that.” he said.

According to him, he has been using the special plate number throughout the enhanced community quarantine.

He was also able to pass through checkpoints and entered camps of law enforcers using the special plate number without being confronted.

Ronnie Liang assumed that it is still allowed until last Friday, November 6, his car was stopped by the Highway Patrol Group along EDSA Greenhills.

He then clarified: “Para po sa inyong kaalaman, hindi siya in-impound. I was invited para i-check yung mga documents ko rin to verify yung mga dapat i-verify.”

“After naman po noon pinaalis na ako kasama ang aking sasakyan,” he added.

He reiterated that the special plate number is allowed as long as it does not cover the original plate number.
