Raffy Tulfo Gives Reaction on Motorcycle Barrier for Backriding Couples

Raffy Tulfo gave his reaction about the installation of motorcycle barrier for backriding couples as part of the government’s safety protocol to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Recently, the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) through the Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield required the installation of motorcycle barrier for backriding couples.

Many reacted on this government’s call which aims to lessen the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 and among those who have been critical on this issue is Raffy Tulfo.

In his program, Raffy Tulfo in Action, the veteran broadcast journalist aired his side regarding the installation of motorcycle barrier for backriding couples.

Watch the video below:

Raffy Tulfo raised several questions addressed to the IATF particularly if the agency consulted the experts on this matter such as motorcycle manufacturers, aerodynamics engineers, and even riders.

Raffy Tulfo also tagged the installation of motorcycle barrier for backriding couples as “redundant” since riders and backriders themselves are already wearing a facemask and helmet.

Ret. Col. Bonifacio Bosita, a former member of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) and currently the founder of Riders Safety Advocates of the Philippines (RSAP) also gave some of the disadvantages on the installation of motorcycle barrier for backriding couples.

Meanwhile, the national government has extended the deadline for the installation of motorcycle barrier for backriding couples until July 26.

The task force is requiring the motorcycle riders to install either the Bohol prototype or the protective shield on the vest by Angkas.

  1. Those ideas recommended to have a barrier between driver and back ride passengers is out brain without deep thinking of safety to both driver and back rider due to wind speed plus motorcycle speed and disregards of engineering research to balance the motorcycle.
