Network services had been restored in Catanduanes, according to local telecommunications companies.
Local telecommunications companies had restored network services in Catanduanes, one of areas being hit by Super Typhoon “Rolly”, along with other typhoon-hit areas.
This, as PLDT Inc. and Globe Telecom Inc. on Wednesday said in separate advisories that services were restored in Catanduanes wherein call and text services were already available for subscribers.
Smart president and PLDT Inc. chief revenue officer Al Panlilio said that they used their own aircraft to bring their crew to Catanduanes in order to start repairing downed equipment so that they could immediately connect the province to the rest of the Philippines.
In addition, Smart said that it had also put free call and charging areas in other typhoon-hit provinces such as Bataan, Aurora, Bulacan, Batangas, Camarines Sur, Pampanga, Marinduque, Tarlac, Sorsogon, and Zambales.

For its part, Globe Telecom Inc. said that call and text services were already available in San Andres, and LTE services and internet browsing in Virac, Catanduanes, adding that cell sites in the two areas and six municipalities in Camarines Sur were already fully operational.
Moreover, services had also been restored in the municipalities of Bula, Bombon, Calabanga, Cabusao, Del Gallego and Lupi, which were heavily affected by typhoon “Rolly”.
Globe Telecom said that the company was exerting all means possible in order to immediately restore services in other parts of Camarines Sur and Catanduanes as well as in the province of Albay.
Telecommunications companies’ statement came after the National Telecommunications Commission issued a memorandum directing telecommunication entities to immediately “accelerate the mobilization and transport” of their respective technical and service personnel and equipment to typhoon-affected areas.
