Over 35 Million Filipinos Included on Priority List to Receive COVID-19 Vaccines, According to Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. announced that over 35 million Filipinos will be prioritized to receive COVID-19 vaccine.
On Wednesday (November 23, 2020), Carlito Galvez Jr. said that more than 35 million Filipino people are included on the priority list of receiving the vaccines against the coronavirus disease 2019.
Galvez said that the Department of Health released the priority list of vaccine recipients with the supervision of President Rodrigo Duterte. The vaccination would start in areas with huge cases of COVID-19.
“Meron na po tayong listahan ng more than 35 million Filipinos nasa priority listing. ‘Yun po ay ibinigay po ng ating Department of Health base rin po sa guidance ng ating President,” Galvez said.
The government official said that the vaccination will also start in regions with primary business centers so the country would feel the progress. Here are some of the areas; National Capital Region, Calabarzon, and Central Luzon, Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro.
Galvez also revealed that frontliners including healthcare wrokers, police, soldiers, and service man would be the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The government aims to administer the vaccine to over 20-30 million Filipino people every year.
“At the same time, titingnan po natin talaga rin na kung alin po ang safe at effective na vaccine,” the official added.
