CHED urged colleges and universities in Metro Manila and other typhoon-hit regions to suspend classes “as needed”
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) encouraged all colleges and universities in Metro Manila and other typhoon-hit regions to suspend classes “as needed”.
This, as CHED Chairman J. Prospero De Vera III on Friday made the statement after Malacañang announced the suspension of classes at all levels in public schools and work in all government offices in Metro Manila and other typhoon-hit regions on Friday, November 13.

The typhoon-hit areas were the following: Bicol, NCR (National Capital Region) Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA (Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
The Commission on Higher Education called on other higher education institutions (HEIs) in typhoon-hit areas to suspend classes “as needed” and “upon consultation with their respective local government units”.
These higher education institutions were also advised to undertake necessary adjustments in course requirements or in class in consideration of their students and faculty who were presently recovering from the impact brought by typhoon “Ulysses”.
De Vera said that the Commission encouraged the public to continue monitoring updates from reliable news sources and weather advisories and from the government as well.
