Aboitiz InfraCapital partnered with DITO Telecommunity and Globe Telecom for small cell site deployment.
Aboitiz InfraCapital on Friday said that it had partnered with DITO Telecommunity and Globe Telecom for the deployment of small cell sites.
In a statement, Aboitiz InfraCapital said that DITO Telecommunity and Globe Telecom had deployed small cell sites across its pole network in Davao and Cebu in a bid to boost the telcos’ network coverage and capacity.
The infrastructure arm of Aboitiz Group was expecting significant increase in pole leases within the next two years as telecommunications companies prepared for 5G deployment.
Aboitiz InfraCapital said that this would need an antenna densification in order to provide users with large data quantities at higher speeds.

Rafael Aboitiz, general manager of Aboitiz InfraCapital’s small cell sites business, said that they were also looking at growing their small cell sites beyond their current footprint as they anticipated the increased demand from telcos and other internet service providers (ISPs) while forging strong partnerships with telecommunications companies like DITO Telecommunity and Globe Telecom.
Aboitiz also said that they were particularly keen on expanding in other key urban cities in Visayas and Mindanao wherein network congestion was a primary issue that hampered service quality.
Heeding the national government’s call to help improve the country’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure, Aboitiz InfraCapital announced that the company was venturing into the small cell sites business aside from its common tower project.
The company was offering its sites nationwide in order to support ISPs and telcos with their wireless network capacity and coverage.
In a report on GMA News Online, a small cell network was a series of small low-powered, short-ranged antennas that can provide capacity and coverage, meant to work in conjunction with macro cell towers.
Similar to the common towers business model, ISPs and telcos can co-locate small cell attachments in the company’s pole network, thereby helping fast-track expansion, reduce costs, increase service reliability, and lessen redundant sites.
