The Philippine government considered hiring its own fact-checkers, according to the Palace.
Malacañang said that the Philippine government was studying the possibility of having its own social media fact-checking team.
This, after Facebook removed accounts that were linked to its supporters, the Philippine police, and the Philippine military due to coordinated inauthentic behavior (CIB).
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday said at a news conference that several foreign governments had started the process of getting fact-checkers.
According to him, it had already started in Europe and the Philippines would study if th country should do that because the country can’t allow fact-checkers to be only against the government.

Roque’s statement came as he slammed anew Facebook’s decision to tap Vera Files and Rappler — media outfits that had published stories that were critical of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration — as fact-checkers on the social media platform in 2018.
“Hello, kung hindi ka kumbinsido na laban sila sa gobyerno baka ikaw ay taga-ibang planeta”, Roque said.
It was last week when Facebook took down a network of fake pages and accounts allegedly linked to the Philippine military and the Philippine police due to coordinated inauthentic behavior (CIB) — a violation of Facebook’s community standards.
