DOH Update: Total Coronavirus Cases In PH Already At 279,526

The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 279,526, according to DOH.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 279,526 with over 3,200 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, September 18, 2020.

According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #188 dated September 18, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,257 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, wherein 2,628 out of 3,257 were recorded as “fresh” cases — reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 279,526.

Since September 11, the Department of Health didn’t report the number of operational laboratories who successfully submitted their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System as well as the total number of operational laboratories.

However, the Department of Health on Friday reported that 20 operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS.

The Department of Health also reported 65,906 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #188 dated September 18, 2020.

Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 18 only: Metro Manila with 997 new cases, Bulacan with 282 new cases, Cavite with 179 new cases, Negros Occidental with 152 new cases, and Cebu with 127 new cases.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 733 newly-reported recoveries and 47 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 208,790 and total coronavirus deaths to 4,830.
