TV5 abruptly decided to cancel the “Healing Galing” program in order to give way to the new fitness show “Fit For Life”.

This, as the producers of the health-oriented program claimed that they’re never notified of the decision of TV5 to take the said program off the air and replace it with “Fit For Life”.

According to supervising producer Nestor Tan, this was despite the fact that the health-oriented program “Healing Galing” had an existing contract with TV5 until December 31, 2020.

Tan also said that “Healing Galing” followers had flooded the comments section of Radyo 5’s Facebook account as they’re expressing their disgust and lamenting the sudden disappearance of their favorite show every Sunday morning which went off the air on August 16, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Those comments were mostly from elderlies who had been following the said program that was hosted by naturopathic doctor Edinell Calvario.

According to the program’s official statement, it stated that they’re enlightened by the doctor’s holistic approach in addressing their health conditions using different organic herbs and plants. In addition, they had proven and tested that they’re effective over the last five years of continuously following the said show.

“Healing Galing” followers then appealed to Kapatid Network management not to change the said program to “Fit For Life” to be hosted by former Kapamilya actress Jessy Mendiola.

Tan also mentioned that those followers said that it’s not suited for them as it was best for the younger ones, adding that they hoped for the fitness show to be “moved to the next hour”.

Moreover, Tan said that neither he nor production manager Manny Martinez was notified about the changes in the programming schedule of TV5 as they had also “prepared” 11 episodes and were saddened that these episodes could no longer be aired.

They also revealed that “Healing Galing” was the only program that had gathered awards for TV5 for the best public service for the last five years.

Calvario couldn’t be reached for her comment on the status of her show because, according to the official statement of the program, the “Healing Galing” host was busy as the president of the Women Investors Association of the Philippines Inc. (WIAPI)

To recall, the Women Investors Association of the Philippines Inc. was focused on coordinating with the local government units (LGUs) for a holistic approach toward the treatment of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, TV5 head of programming Perci Intalan told Inquirer that the TV5 management will still have to consult its legal team on the said matter before releasing an official statement.
