Ilagan City Mayor Josemarie Diaz — as well as his wife Evelyn (who was a sectoral representative) and their son Jay Eveson (who was the city councilor of Ilagan) — had tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, Diaz issued an executive order placing the entire city on a one-week stricter enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 12 due to the local transmission of coronavirus disease.
