Magnitude 6.0 earthquake strikes Costa Rica

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit Jacó in Costa Rica today, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

Earthquakes hit without prior signs/warnings most of the time. Recently, several places across the globe were struck off by quakes with different magnitudes.

Meanwhile, based on the latest earthquake bulletin of USGS, the 6.0 Magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Costa Rica hit at a depth of 27.2 kilometers.

The epicenter of the Magnitude 6.0 earthquake in Costa Rica was located at 3-kilometer east-southeast (ESE) of Jacó.

No tsunami warning has been issued as of posting.

Costa Rica is part of the infamous Pacific Ring of Fire and the Central American Volcanic Arc that’s why numerous quakes have already occurred in the rainforested Central American country.

In 2012, it was devastated by a 7.6 magnitude earthquake damaging major infrastructures and in 2017, a 6.5 earthquake hit Jacó killing at least 3 people.
