DOH reported over 4,400 new coronavirus cases in the Philippines.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported over 4,400 new coronavirus cases in the Philippines, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to over 143,000.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 12, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #151 dated August 12, 2020, the Department of Health reported 4,444 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 143,749.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Wednesday were reported based on the total tests done by 91 out of 100 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,294 out of 4,444 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days – from July 30 to August 12.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 636 new recoveries and 93 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 68,997 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,404.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 72,348 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #151 dated August 12, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 12 only: Metro Manila with 2,618 new cases, Laguna with 233 new cases, Cavite with 227 new cases, Rizal with 174 new cases, and Bulacan with 129 new cases.
